Wholesale Biker Shorts With Compression You Can Put a Number On.

Not a yoga short. Not a legging. A biker short is mid-thigh-to-knee compression doing a job, so this page treats compression as an engineered quantity: spandex ratio, fabric weight and recovery score, each with a working spec you can hold us to.

Compression Engineering

What actually creates compression in a biker short — three variables, in order of leverage.

"Compression" is the most abused word in activewear sourcing. A short can feel tight on day one and be dead by wash fifteen. The hold your customer feels at month three is decided by three measurable variables locked at the tech-pack stage.

Variable Our Working Spec What Happens When It's Wrong
Spandex ratio 18–22% spandex against a 78–82% nylon face on the 4-way platform Low-spandex knits get their "tightness" from a smaller pattern, not fibre recovery — the garment strangles range of motion early and bags out at the knee within weeks
Fabric weight Compression cuts run the heavy end of the platform's 180–260 gsm window A light knit pulled to compression tension goes sheer at the seat — the squat-flash complaint that triggers most marketplace returns in this category
Elastic recovery Scored as rebound after a 100-cycle stretch-and-wash protocol before a lot is approved Fabric that scores poorly here is why a sample reviews well and the bulk run earns "lost its shape" reviews at month two
Cut Range

Cut geometry across the inseam range — each variant is a different load case.

Each cut serves a different buyer. Compression interlock sells to hot yoga studios. Scrunch booty sells to IG-first DTC brands. Longline sells to modesty-market customers. Choose one or mix across SKUs.

High-waist classic biker shorts
High-Waist Classic
4-5" rise above navel, mid-thigh 7-8" inseam. The standard biker silhouette — broadest sell-through across DTC and retail.
Broadest demand
Scrunch booty biker shorts
Scrunch Booty
Center-back ruching panel. 5+ scrunch density options — adjust gather count per SKU. Drives IG engagement and reorder velocity.
Seamless knit biker shorts
Seamless Knit
Circular-knit construction — no side seam, no inner thigh irritation point. Lower friction for long training sessions.
High-compression biker shorts
High-Compression
Interlock fabric, shape-holding for hot yoga and barre. Holds compression across XS-3XL without rolling at waistband after 50 wears.
Longline past-knee biker shorts
Longline (Past-Knee)
9-10" inseam — brushes or just covers the knee. Best for modesty-market positioning or brands addressing mid-thigh chafing.

Styling Context Worn alone or layered with an oversized tee Pairs with a crop top or sports bra
Retail Positioning Studio staple — year-round repeat category Seasonal — peaks in spring/summer drops
Fabric Options

Fabric platforms by parameter: recovery, shape-hold, knit gauge, certification.

The seamless cut requires circular-knit fabric and can't be substituted. The compression cut needs interlock with high recovery. The other cuts can run on either nylon-spandex or recycled poly depending on your eco positioning.

4-Way Stretch Nylon-Spandex fabric
Performance / Squat-Proof
4-Way Stretch Nylon-Spandex
High recovery, squat-proof face. Primary option for high-waist classic and scrunch booty cuts. Holds rise above navel through full squat range of motion.
Recycled Polyester Blend fabric
Eco / Sustainable
Recycled Polyester Blend
GRS-certified recycled poly with spandex. Suitable for brands with eco positioning — available across classic and longline cuts on request.
Compression Interlock fabric
Compression / Studio
Compression Interlock
Dense interlock knit for shape retention under heat and sweat. Designed for hot yoga, barre, and HIIT use where compression hold matters over a 90-minute class.
Seamless Circular Knit fabric
Seamless / Premium
Seamless Circular Knit
Required for the seamless cut — no side seam means no irritation point. Premium hand-feel finish and minimal logo placement options on seamless fabric.
Customization

Tech-pack lock list: colour, print method, waistband, inseam — frozen before cutting.

Inseam length and waistband style are set on the tech pack before sample production. Both affect grading across XS-3XL and can't be changed after sample approval without a revision fee.

Extended-Size Grading

Grading a biker short to 3XL is not "make everything bigger" — four rules our pattern room applies.

Size-inclusive lines fail in the upper sizes first, and almost always for the same reason: the factory graded girth and forgot geometry. These are the rules behind our XS–3XL biker block.

Rise grows faster than girth
Body depth front-to-back increases disproportionately in extended sizes. If rise is graded at the same rate as the waist measurement, the short sits progressively lower on each size up — the "fits in M, indecent in 2XL" problem. Our grade rule accelerates rise length in the upper half of the run so the high-waist promise holds at 3XL.
Inseam re-proportioned per size
An 8" inseam lands mid-thigh on one body and near the knee on another. We grade inseam so the hem lands at the same anatomical point across the run, keeping the anti-chafe coverage that extended-size customers buy this category for.
Waistband tension held constant
Elastic is cut to a fixed stretch ratio against the graded waist — not a fixed percentage of band length. Length-proportional elastic, the lazy default, produces upper sizes that grip painfully or not at all.
Fit-tested on bodies at both ends
Sample approval covers a base size plus an upper-run size, not the base size alone. Grading errors are invisible on a size-S fit model — which is exactly why most suppliers never find them before the buyer's customers do.
Tolerance Spec

The tolerances a compression garment is held to — and where each one is enforced.

A compression short has no drape to hide behind: a small deviation reads as a fit defect on the body. These are the hold points written into every biker tech pack we run.

  • Rise height per size is a sealed dimension, not a styling suggestion — the high-waist position your sample sat at is the position the audit measures on bulk pieces, size by size.
  • Gather count on a scrunch panel is recorded as a number on the tech pack; the bar-tacked cord means that number is mechanically held, and the inspector counts it rather than eyeballing it.
  • Waistband elastic is cut to a stretch ratio against each graded waist dimension, so band grip stays equivalent from XS through 3XL instead of tightening as sizes shrink.
  • Inner-leg seams carry a minimum stitch-density floor — below it, a compression-loaded seam wears through at the thigh — and roaming line inspection pulls garments mid-run to verify it.

Run Parameters

From tech pack to vessel: the production numbers for a biker shorts run.

Engineering only matters if the line can execute it on schedule. These are the operating parameters a biker shorts PO books against — the same figures our planners use, not marketing approximations.

Yoga Vendor factory production line
Parameter Working Value Engineering Note
Line allocation Dedicated bottoms sewing line Cut-and-sew biker cuts queue here; the seamless cut books circular-knit machine time instead, so plan it one window earlier
500-pc colorway 15–22 days on line Counted from fabric release to pre-shipment inspection, not from deposit
2,000-pc program 25–32 days on line Volume break at 2,000 pcs also deepens the Tier-3 discount
Factory throughput 120k pcs/month all lines Bottoms account for over half of shipped volume — biker capacity is structural, not borrowed
Indicative FOB, basic spec $5.20–$5.95 pilot / $4.55–$5.20 working / $3.70–$4.50 volume Per piece, USD; decoration class and packaging tier move a quote inside its band
Pilot entry 50 pcs per style per colour Sizes mix freely inside the band once the size curve is approved
Inspection standard AQL 2.5, stop-shipment authority Sampled pieces re-checked under stretch at final audit — compression defects only show under load

FAQ

Biker shorts questions — specific answers.

These are the questions biker shorts buyers ask us most. If your question isn't here, send it with your quote request and we'll answer in the first reply.

7"–8" is the broadest sell-through length in the US and UK — covers mid-thigh without touching the knee. European markets trend toward 8"–9" for both yoga and cycling crossover use. If you're targeting a cycling-specific audience or modesty-sensitive market, 9"–10" longline is the better positioning. We recommend starting with two lengths to test your customer base before committing to a full seasonal depth.

Our seamless circular-knit cut eliminates the inner thigh seam entirely — zero stitch line means zero friction point. For cut-and-sew styles, we use flatlock seaming on inner leg construction, which lies flat against the skin and reduces friction to near zero during cycling, yoga, and extended barre sessions. All fabric lots go through an abrasion test cycle before we approve them for biker shorts production.

No — this is a construction priority for us. The waistband uses a multi-layer elastic panel stitched with a stay stitch at the top edge. We test no-roll performance through 50 machine washes and repeat squat-and-stand cycles before releasing a style for bulk. If you're ordering the scrunch booty cut, the back ruching panel is anchored independently so the gather doesn't shift or rise during movement.

Yes — each cut is a separate SKU with its own order band. You can order high-waist classic and scrunch booty in the same purchase order and mix colorways within each SKU. If you're doing a mixed introduction order, we suggest allocating enough depth per style to test sell-through before committing to reorder depth.

We handle the full private label package: woven neck labels, silicone heat-transfer or woven waistband branding, custom hem labels, hang tags, and branded polybag packaging. All branding artwork is reviewed against the garment placement at the tech pack stage — not as an afterthought. Pattern exclusivity is covered by NDA so your cut won't be replicated for competitors. We also provide a pre-production sample with all branding applied for your approval before bulk production begins.

All five biker short cuts are graded from XS through 3XL. Size grading is proportional — the rise, inseam, and thigh circumference each scale by a confirmed grade rule so the fit intent holds from XS to 3XL. Within the confirmed order band you can mix sizes freely — we don't enforce a per-size minimum. If you're running a size-inclusive line, we can accommodate split-run quantities across the full XS-3XL spread.
